Shep Up & Dance-A Night dedicated to Shep Pettibone-December 20th

December 8, 2014 admin
Shep.jpg

We thought it was time that we paid tribute to the legend that is Shep Pettibone… and what better way than banging out his biggest and best work at our favourite Dalston basement. Shep is the man who made remixing an artform. Starting out in the early hip-hop and Salsoul scene, he defined the art of the remix throughout the 80s. Remixing artists such as Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, Belinda Carslile, Janet Jackson, Depeche Mode, New Order, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Erasure and of course Madonna. His style became instantly recognizable on all dancefloors.

It was with Madonna that he gained worldwide fame as a writer and producer, bringing ‘Vogue’ to the world. From his early 80s productions with Afrika Bambaataa and Salsoul artists, he went on to work with Pet Shop Boys, Taylor Dane and Cathy Dennis amongst others, and became one of the defining sounds of the 80s and early 90s.

We will bring you the highlights from his incredible career, with all the hits but some surprises too. So come along, and Shep Up and Dance!
