Transmissions presents: Meet Georgina Beyer - The World's First Trans Mayor and MP

Georgina Beyer is the world first openly Transgender Mayor and MP. Georgina is also part of the first nations people of New Zealand and as a Maori she is also a first for the QTIPOC community.

Georgina's career has been an incredible journey from club and cabaret entertainer to a sex worker and actress. Her passionate belief in equality lead her to become a Mayoral contender and on to being elected to national parliament. She has never tried to embellish or misrepresent her past and because of this, the New Zealand people have loved her. This has also meant that she has been a strong activist for LGBTQI and Sex Workers fights for equality and justice.

Georgina has been asked to talk at the prestigious Oxford Union as part of their commemoration of this 'Suffrage' year. She will also be appearing at a Stonewall event and at Cambridge University. This will be the opportunity that she will have to meet the wider Queer, Trans and fellow QTIPOC community.

We are wanting the community to come and meet her and also to celebrate her achievements with us at VFD.

As an entertainer herself, Georgina will be singing and we will also be joined by other Trans and QTIPOC performers and DJs including Karnage Kills, Lasana Shabazz and Our Lady Lucia.

*All proceeds from the door will go to the DJs and performers and we will be fundraising for Georgina.
